Leadership is Everything

Leadership Endurance #1

Someone had to believe that America could emerge from the Great Depression.
FDR believed.
He went to the podium and said, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”

Someone had to believe that America could be a land where all people were free.
Lincoln believed.
He stated, “I do order and declare that all persons held as slaves within said designated states and parts of states, are henceforward shall be free.”

Everything hinges on leadership.
Everything.

Leadership determines where the organization will go, what will be achieved, how it will be done, when it will be done, whether the goal is personally fulfilling and promises are kept.

But there’s a deeper question that leadership must answer and that is why.

Why are we doing this?
Why does it matter?

It is not an overstatement to say everything rises and falls on leadership.

No organization drifts toward success.
You never see someone win by accident.

That’s why leadership is critical.

Ask yourself the following questions…

What’s the purpose of your organization?
What do you hope to accomplish?
Who will help you achieve it?
What do they need to do to bring it to pass?
Why does it matter?
Where will they do their work?
When do you want the goals done?
Is this the right thing to do?

Leadership isn’t just answering those questions one time.
It’s answering them daily… and reinforcing them moment by moment.

It’s coaching the team so they don’t lose focus.
It’s being a cheerleader and helping them believe that the impossible is possible.

Are you guiding the ship or are you hoping it drifts to greatness?

Lead well today.
Answer those questions.
Help your team understand.
Doing so is the only path to Leadership Endurance.
