The Great Mortality: An Intimate History of the Black Death, The Most Devastating Plague of all Time | John Kelly
How do you understand a pandemic? You read a book about The Black Death, also known as the plague from the 1300’s
Team of Five | Kate Andersen Brower
Brower isn’t just telling you facts. She’s weaving a story. One you should know. Why? Because it helps you understand great success and anguishing failure.
A Gentle Answer: Our Secret Weapon in an Age of Us Against Them | Scott Sauls
Allow it to sink to your bones. This book needs to be read by every single Jesus follower. Not just read, but embraced, believed and lived.
How to Think Like a Roman Emperor: The Stoic Philosophy of Marcus Aurelius | Donald Robertson
There are helpful methods in this book. Beginning with the end in mind. Controlling one’s emotions. Embracing pain. Understanding the role of death. But there’s something terrifying as well about this book. It’s absent of Christ.
Being the Boss: The 3 Imperatives for Becoming a Great Leader | Linda Hill & Kent Lineback.
This is quite possibly one of the greatest leadership books I’ve ever read. Hill is a professor at the Harvard Business School and Lineback is a coach, writer and speaker. I’m pretty sure I underlined half the book.

Read this story. Devour it. Allow it to inspire and inform you. We are capable of so much more. Our ability to endure has untapped reservoirs.

You should know up front that Winik is my favorite historian. His writing is nothing short of perfection. For him, history is a story to be told and he weaves it masterfully.
The Hunt for History | Nathan Raab
“The Hunt for History” by Nathan Raab is one of the best books I’ve read in 2020. His stories are nothing short of captivating. Buying a document for $50,000 and then selling it for a million seems unreal. It’s a fun and fascinating read.
American Gospel: God, The Founding Fathers, and the Making of a Nation | Jon Meacham
When they met in Philadelphia to begin the grand discussion, it all started with an argument. The founding fathers started with an argument…about prayer. Should the meetings be opened with prayer, by whom, and what kind of prayer? We’ve been arguing ever since.
The Hope of Glory: Reflections on the Last Words of Jesus from the Cross | Jon Meacham
Meacham is a famed historian and one of my favorite authors. His latest book is not about some President or world leader. It’s about the 7 sayings of Jesus from the cross. Meacham was asked to give 7 sermons at his local episcopal church and this book is a compilation of those sermons.
